Pamela Anderson Explains Reason for Pixie Cut: I Wanted to "Start Fresh"

Pamela Anderson is breaking free from her past -- or, more precisely, her hair's past. The Baywatch alum, 46, made headlines last week when she chopped off her trademark blonde tresses into a chic pixie cut. Now, in a new interview with Ellen DeGeneres, she's revealed that the dramatic new 'do is symbolic of a new start, too.

"I stole your haircut!" the ex-Playboy cover girl joked in an episode of DeGeneres' show airing Thursday, Nov. 7.

Asked about the reason behind the change, Anderson replied, "I just thought, you know, my hair had had a life. And I wanted to kind of put that behind me and start fresh. And I thought it'd be good for the marathon. And it was."

(As previously reported, the buxom blonde ran her first-ever New York City Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 3, finishing the 26.2-mile race in 5 hours and 41 minutes.)

The marathon -- which weaves through all five boroughs of the Big Apple -- was actually the impetus for Anderson's appearance on the show. She previously stopped by in October to chat with DeGeneres, who told her she wouldn't complete the marathon.

"I think it's fantastic that you're doing it," the comedienne said at the time. "I just don't think you're going to finish."

Anderson did indeed finish, so DeGeneres invited her back on the show to talk about it. "I really want to apologize to you. I don't mind admitting [I was wrong]," the host said, giving her guest a T-shirt emblazoned with the words, "Ellen Is Not Always Right."

The star -- who had said before she would complete the race just to prove DeGeneres wrong -- proudly showed off the medal she got when she crossed the finish line in Central Park. And she definitely earned it. "The last five miles were like giving birth," Anderson, a mother of two, quipped. "It was like giving birth and then being told to run as you're giving birth. It was so much pain. My hips! I don't know if women are meant to run, especially after giving birth."
